My Golf Story

Every beginning deserves the proper introduction, so I shall begin this quest by sharing a bit about my passions: golf, food, and style. Golf has been the central component of my life since around age 7 when I started playing junior golf at our local country club in the Chicago suburbs.  By age 13, I was carrying clubs every weekend through the summer, and eventually moved onto driving range duty at the nearby public course. By the time I was ready for college there wasn’t much I hadn’t done on a golf course, except for riding a mower. That all changed after graduating from The University of Arizona with a degree in Plant Sciences and emphasis in Turfgrass Management. My turf degree has enabled me to enjoy some of the most picturesque views from the Arizona deserts, to the mountains of Northern California all the way down the coast to San Diego, the high desert of SoCal and to my current destination in the greater Nashville area. I wouldn’t say golf define who I am (because I’m in denial), as I do have other passions that I’m eager to share, but I would best describe myself as a golfer trapped in golf course superintendent’s body.

Maintaining a golf course at a high level is a demanding occupation, that can be very stressful at times and largely time consuming. Between work and family, playing golf comes in at distant 3rd, but my goals moving forward are to play more and share those experiences. As mentioned, I have an intense interest in food—I definitely love to eat good food, but my passion began on the grill cooking for other people.  I feel a great amount of pride and satisfaction preparing a meal for the people I care about.  Style to me is the result of who we are on the inside combined with how we’re feeling on the outside.   But we don’t let the outside affect how we feel on the inside, right?  Staying true to who you are is your style. I like to look good when I work and play while feeling as comfortable as possible. You’ll see.

Hopefully I teased enough to keep everyone’s interest going forward.  I know I’m looking forward to a year filled with laughs, golf, bbq and making memories, so come find me where the grass is greener and join in the fun!
